Hike description
From the garages at Øvstetun, please follow the car road to Fardalen until the fourth bend, where you cross the bridge over the Fardalselvi River. Please follow the marked trail with some steep parts up to Skarpenord and Blåberggruvene from here.
At the Skarpenord viewpoint, you will be rewarded with a lovely view of the Årdalsvatnet Lake, the valley of Nundalen Bøttejuv, Årdalstangen in the far distance. It’s hilly on the way up, and the trail is well-used, and you will arrive at a steeper part leading to a scree.
After passing the scree, you’ll soon be by Blåberggruvene at 480 masl, with a lovely view of Øvre Årdal and the narrow bends leading up to the 1000 meter. Please take your time to explore the old copper mines, where there was mining administration in the 18th century.
