Hike description
Walk on the People’s Road from Hjelle in the Utladalen valley until you have passed the Avdalsbrui bridge. Here, you will make a left turn on a nice trail up to Avdalen. There are hosts at Avdalen during the summer, and it’s possible to book accommodation and order food here.
The mountain farm of Avdalen is beautifully situated in the valley of Utladalen, just above the magnificent Avdalsfossen waterfall. It was abandoned in 1962, and Luster Turlag started the renovations in 1991. Today, the farm is fully and nicely restored, including all houses and the cultural landscape. Avdal Farm offers food, 30 beds, shower possibilities, and a drying room. There are no hosts during the off-season (DNT key).
